Recently, we were just discussing how much denim we have between the two of us.  Jeans, shirts, dresses – our denim collection is growing.  This discovery happened to fall during Sexual Violence Awareness Month.

Denim day is coming up on Wednesday, April 26th.  For those who aren’t familiar, for the past 18 years, Peace Over Violence has run its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month.  The campaign was started due to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned and the rapist was found not guilty because the victim was wearing skinny jeans at the time of the rape.  The justices felt that she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.  The day following this ruling, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it.

So, we decided to share a few of our favorite denim pieces with you.

On Wednesday, we will be standing in solidarity with the victims and the brave survivors, proudly wearing our denim.

[Brin] For those who are not fond of the total ‘matchey-match demin on top and bottom’ look (I guess it’s referred to as a jeanfit??) (no idea) (if not, I’m making it a thing), this frayed tank changes it up a bit – it’s from Nordstrom and is so cute and comfy for Spring!

[Berit] Dees jeans.  I just got them in the mail about a week ago and am so in love.  It’s my first pair of mom jeans, and I got them from Topshop.

[Brin] Ha guess what! That pocket is fake.  I paired this dress from H&M with a choker from Pacsun’s denim collection.

[Berit] Apparently I like to stick my tongue out in photos.  (See: all three photos from this post).  Dress is Michael Kors.
