It has been too long! Brin and I had all of these hopes and dreams of a summer full of time to blog our brains out. In reality, we have been busy beyond compare. I just took my first CPA exam, and Brin has been working as a CNA. Now that my first test is over, I am taking a few weeks for some me time until I start studying for my next one. Fun stuff is coming up – my birthday is next week, and we are taking a family trip to Boston. Looking forward to the good vibes 🙂
It has also been a while since we posted about some of the products and accessories we are currently into. Read on to check out some of our faves 🙂
Frank Body – Shimmer Scrub
Not only is it summer, season of the shorts and skirts, but it is summer 2017, season of the off-the-shoulder tops. I love Frank’s coffee scrub as it is, but they came out with this shimmer scrub and I LOVE it. They use a glow dust in their coffee scrub so that after the scrub exfoliates and moisturizes, it leaves your skin with a shine. I love being glowy – I want my collar bones and shins to blind people from across the bar. This scrub is perfect. To heighten the effects, I sometimes add a little highlighter to my collarbones and shins for that extra glow.
[Brin] I have been on #teamnobra for as long as I can remember now and I cannot stress how much I love it. I used to just be basic and slip on a typical black/white/grey lace bralette under everything I wear but now that this trend is (I feel) more common than wearing an actual bra, stores are getting creative with how cute and comfy these bad boys are. It’s kinda an addiction and my bralette stock is becoming pretty hefty – to the point where I have thrown out all my cupped bras except one ’emergency’ one (ya never know). My favorite places to shop for these would be Forever 21 because they always have a deal on bundles, Urban Outfitters (photo above), and some random brands I find in Nordstrom.
Kim Kardashian West Contour Kit
[Berit] As much as I didn’t want to contribute to the Kardashian regime, I signed up for the email updates to be one of the first to get my hands on a KKW Contour Stick in the shade “light”. Zero surprise, the product is almost perfect. Kimmy knows her contour. I may be biased because it is a cream contour and I have never experienced a cream contour before, but I prefer it to a powder bronzer because it is super easy to blend. I like the matte highlight stick more than the shiny one (the shiny one does not pop enough for my taste) (again – I want that glow), but all in all the kit gives a natural contour look. I like using the brush side more than the sponge size to blend. One other critique is that it dries quickly, so you can’t sketch out the whole face before blending; it has to be done part my part. Overall, love.
[Brin] I have always been so envious of Berit because the girl can straight up go a week without washing her hair and it does not look the slightest bit greasy. I used to have to wash my hair every day and I HATED it – I knew how bad it is for your hair and my hair broke easily and felt thinner with no volume. I really wanted to quit washing my hair so often but I mean, I’m in college and see people I know everyday so I was not about to just let people think I was a grease-ball. I tried a bunch of spray-on dry shampoos and those were fine, I just felt like those are more for touch-ups rather than actually looking like I washed my hair. Luckily, thanks to (Berit’s) Birchbox, I came across R+Co’s Shampooing Paste! This stuff not only takes the grease away, it adds SO much volume to my hair. On top of that, my hair smells amazing all day.
[Berit] Morphe palettes are one of God’s greatest inventions. I have the 35T (35R pictured above). This eyeshadow is super pigmented and goes on really smoothly. You get thirty five colors for only $23, which I think is a super good deal. (I used a code from makeup blogger Jaclyn Hill for a discount – JACATTACK). Most come with a good mix of shimmer shadows and matte shadows. 10/10 recommend.
[Brin] I’ve been super into the glow-ey look this summer but am kinda sick of the complete highlighter look. I don’t mind having an obvious highlight for formal events, but day-to-day I still want my face to be brightened without it looking too much. I heard via youtube about how this one style guru loved her new Nars blush in the shade Laguna and bronzer in the shade Orgasm for this exact reasoning, so I thought I’d try it out. For just trying out the product it would have been pricey to buy them both separately, so I was thrilled to find they sold a duo with these exact two shades. Both of these colors have a slight shimmer in them that’s not too dramatic so I have used it almost every day since I’ve purchased it, and will buy the full size of both once I run out!
[Brin] You guys have no idea how many people compliment my glasses and ask where I got them when in reality they are just unscripted, inexpensive glasses I picked up from either Pacsun or H&M, etc. I am so for wearing fake glasses to dress up or add to any outfit. There are so many fun frames out in stores right now, and it can make someone stand out in a crowd for being high in fashion just because of a funky pair of glasses. I throw them on all the time – when I dress up to go out or when I’m going to a coffee shop in joggers and a t-shirt.
